A frequent question from customers : How does chloride free mgo board compare to fiber cement board?
It seems many clients want to use mgo board as exterior cladding.
The conclusion already made by BBA and LABC, not suggest mgo use as outdoor cladding. As Rockmax designer, i agree & like to share my point of view towards #manufacturing perspective.
Fiber cement is high density building board, which is made towards compress process, paper pulp fibre mix & spread uniform. The benefit is stable size during water absorption and evaporation, disadvantage: heavy, low impact and not offer shear strength.
Mgo board is light weight fire resistant board, made towards rolling process, long plant fiber mix inside, that inject with wooden characteristics, dry shrinkage is larger than fiber cement & smaller than wood panel. Good quality mgo board does not afraid of rain and sun, but frequent wet and dry recycle might cause seam crack.
Rockmax mgo board recommend to use as semi-exposed building envelope(with tyvek or waterproof treatment), it is light weight refractory(1200’c), offer higher fire resistant, bending & impact & screw holding strength, none of harmful to human and building.
